Water Leapers

General description
Water leapers are hybrids of frogs and dragons. They can be Impressed, but the Impression is more like that of firelizards. They are amphibious, flying underwater just as easily as in the air. They have large eyes on the tops of their heads, long feelers coming out from behind the eyes that are used as ears, and six limbs. The long, delacate wings are in the middle, and the hind legs are shaped much like a frog's. Full-grown leapers can reach up to two feet from head to the spade end of the tail.

Mating and development
Leapers don't mate. A female lays her eggs in a patch of seaweed, up to fifty small, jellylike eggs. The males try to get past the broody female, and stay only long enough to fertilize some of the eggs before she catches and kills him.

When hatched, they have no front legs and can't fly. They flop out of the water and eat whatever they can, and can be Impressed like a firelizard by any creature other than its own kind. It takes a couple weeks to grow their front limbs and grow their middle fins into wings. They live as long as their Impressors do generally.

Colors
Females:
Blue-green w/ dark brown eyes
Light green with dark blue spots w/ milky white eyes
Black w/ dark green eyes (rare)

Males:
Fiery red w/ yellow eyes
Yellow with black spots w/ brown or green eyes
Pure white (rare) but more common ones white with black spots

Personality
Leapers can be trained to perform tricks in both water and air, and can leap with incredible speed and distance. They love to play in the water. They also stay loyal to their Impressors and enjoy other leapers around. They can speak telepathically.

*There are no restrictions on leaper hatchings and naming, but note that only a few eggs from each laying actually hatch.*

Umbrella Flits (flit)

Description
The most unusual feature of the flits is their wings, which have evolved to form, when unfolded, a semi-transparent umbrella formation. In their native habitat is an abundance of tall trees and high, rocky cliffs and lots of wind. Climbing up those trees and rocks is second nature to the little dragons, but climbing down is another thing. Instead, they parachute down to ground, and can sometimes stay airborne for hours at a time. They can breathe fire, but avoid doing so in fear of singing their wings. Their hides are covered in thin, silky, silvery hair and can come in many colors. The base of their tails have webs that act as rudders.

Breeding & Bonding
Do they need to bond? No
When can they bond? At infancy/after hatching
Are all fertile (barring accidents)? All but sports (see Colors)
Size at birth: Four inches w/out tail (which can double body length)
Size at maturity: 10-14 inches w/out tail
Time to maturity: 18 months
How often are they pregnant? Once. That's why there are so many females.
Lifespan: As long as bondmate / wilds live almost forever, but usually fall victim to predators.

Colors:
Females (# of eggs):
Black (8-10)
Green (6-8)
Blue (5-6)
Silver (4-5)
Orange (2-4)
Lt. Yellow (0-3)
Tan (0-1)

Males:
White
Red
Blue

Sports occur only in clutches fathered by whites, and are infertile, as well as mixed breeds. Stragely, about a third of white clutches turn out to be sports. No breeding restrictions barring the breeding of sports (for obvious reasons).

Drayhorns (draconic)

Description
Extremely strong, loyal but pretty stupid, and about the size of a horse but much bulkier, these draconics are the natural burden beasts of Kraukus. Their thick curled horns and stubby wings give them an unusual appearance, like a scaled ram-dragon-thingy. Their tough hide comes in many shades of brown, black, and gray, and is completely hairless except for a coarse mat of hair on the top of their heads. They are actually quite gentle for all the intimidating horns and muscular limbs, and are vegetarians. There are smaller individuals, called dwarf Drayhorns, and those are the only ones that can fly.

Breeding & Bonding
Do they need to bond? No
When do they bond? At Hatching
Size at birth: Three feet long w/out tail
Size at maturity: Muscular horse-sized; dwarf Drays about cat-sized.
Time to maturity: One year
How often are they pregnant? Once a year
How many eggs? About five per clutch
Are there sex-linked traits (like color)? Females' ram-horns are shorter and stubbier.
Are all fertile? Yes

Don't hand out unless you gave a breeding pair.

Draylings (flit)

Description
In a scientific study of how the animals of Kraukus interacted with other creatures from other worlds, one of the dwarf Drayhorns flew a Pernese gold firelizard. To everyone's surprise, the resulting creatures were, for once, not malformed and ugly, but actually sturdy, horned flits that were smaller than a cat but bigger than a firelizard. They also came in a much greater varety of colors than the limited five Pernese colors, even if they weren't as brightly colored. They could lit unusually heavy loads for their size, even in flight, and were such a success that they continued to allow the two species to mingle. They jokingly called them "Draylings", and the name stuck.

Breeding & Bonding
Do they need to bond? No, but most do
When can they bond? At hatching
Size at birth: Half foot w/out tail
Size at maturity: 1 1/2 foot w/out tail
Time to maturity: One year
How often are they pregnant? Once a year
How many eggs in a clutch? About ten
Are all fertile? No
Are there sex-linked traits (like color)? Yes; females have shorter and stubbier horns and colors are as follows:

Females:
Gold (fertile)
Red (fertile)
Roan
Brown
Green (fertile; 0-3 eggs)

Males:
Bronze (fertile)
Brown
Black (fertile)
Cream
Blueish gray (fertile)

Most colors are rather duller than the ordinary Pernese flit, and the shades vary greatly. Don't hand out unless you have a fertile breeding pair.

Stone Dwellers (draconic)

Description
Stone Dwellers, a draconic species, live in mountainous regions where the ground is very rocky. Using their sturdy claws, they can dig through most semi-hard stone. It is in these hand-made caves that the dragons sleep, lay eggs, and raise their young. Flightless though they are, their tough, leathery wings do come in handy when keeping hatchlings safe and shielded. They can light fires using their back molars, which spark when they bite down hard, but they can't "breathe" fire. They feed on small rodents and other creatures that take shelter in the rock crevices.

Breeding & Bonding
Do they need to bond? No
When can they bond? At hatching
Size at birth: Three feet long
Size at maturity: Ten feet long
Time to maturity: Nine months
How often are they pregnant? One a year
How long are they pregnant? Four months
How many eggs? Three per clutch
Lifespan: Fifty years in wild or as long as bondmate
Sex-linked traits: Males have very small wings, while females have larger wings. All are flightless.
Colors (no rank):
Males:
Steel Gray
Sienna
Black

Females:
Dark red
Light Gray
Dark brown

Anything else? If you want to breed yours, PM me and I'll send you details on what the clutch contains. No naming restrictions.

Zitters (flit)

Bonding
These tiny flits are rarely found alone. They often bond to their fairs, which can range from five to fifty. They usually bond to dragons, and enjoy scrubbing the hides of those they bond to. They can, however, bond to humans and any other empathic animal/creature. They prefer to bond in groups to their bonder, rather than a one-on-one bond. They can also attach to fairs of other flit types.
Can they bond? No,duh. Rolling Eyes
When do they bond? At hatching. They can bond to more than one creature.
Do they need to bond? Yes, but that is no problem as they will bond to any living thing with even an ouce of empathy.
Size at birth: Half an inch. Tiny.
Size at maturity: 1-2 inches.
Abilities: Can fly at very high speeds like hummingbirds; can "send" emotions.

Description
Each about the size of a hummingbird, a fair looks like a colorful cloud of insects from a distance. Their wings are nearly transparent, and their hides are covered with niniscule scales, giving their bodies a glittery appearance. Their eyes are cat-like, usually a greenish yellow but with the occasional blue or orange. Above their eyes are bumpy ridges. Their noses are blunt and firelizard-like. The ends of their tails are slightly spaded, and usually a darker version of their body color.

They come in many colors, with no social ranks. However, certain colors are associated with gender and fertility:
Males (Greater fertility at top):
Sapphire
Black
Deep blue
Deep red
Light gray
Emerald
Pearl

Females:
Dark red (10-15)
Pearly pink (8-10)
Light blue (6-8.)
Sage green (4-6)
Yellow (2-4)
Amethyst (0-2)

All other colors, which are usually swirled combinations of two or three colors, can be both genders and are steryl.

No breeding restrictions, but please make sure they lay a reasonable amount of eggs for their color.
